My Story

I am Sous La Rivyè Bon Manbo, a Priestess, educator, advocate and a sacred guide for those crossing between worlds. I carry the name “Manbo Queen” with reverence, honoring not only my role as a spiritual leader, but as a vessel of ancestral wisdom, cultural memory, and compassionate care.

The Sacred Veil was born from both calling and conviction: a calling to serve the dying, the grieving, and the forgotten; and a conviction that our people, Black, melanated, diasporic, deserve to die and be remembered in ways that are sacred, rooted, and true to who we are.

What I Do

Through The Sacred Veil, I offer holistic, culturally affirming death-care rooted in melanated diasporic traditions, spiritual guidance, and community healing. My services include:

  • End-of-life guidance, planning assistance and vigil support

  • Sacred rituals and ceremonies drawn from ancestral & cultural traditions

  • Grief care rooted in compassion and cultural understanding

  • Spiritual wellness practices including spiritual cleansing, ceremonial tools, and sacred altar work

  • Legacy projects and storytelling that preserve memory and elevate the soul

  • Community education, literacy, workshops, public speaking, grief support circles and advocacy for equitable death-care

Whether aiding in homegoing/celebration of life or burial ceremonies, planning/sitting vigil/memorial with the dying, comforting grieving families, or guiding someone in reconnecting with their ancestral lineage; I serve as a bridge between the seen and unseen, the living and the ancestral.

Why I Do It

I was called to this work through both spirit and experience. I know what it means to lose, to grieve without guidance, to search for meaning where there’s only silence. I also know the healing power of ritual/ceremony, the comfort of culture, and the strength in tradition that rises when we remember who we are and venerate those that have transitioned.

As a Death Doula and educator, I walk with individuals and families through sacred transitions with gentleness, honor, respect, ceremony, and ancestral reverence. As a Priestess, I help restore what colonization and systemic neglect tried to strip away: dignity, beauty, and the divine in death.
